Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens Alumni game takes fans on a trip down memory lane

A memorable night in downtown Winnipeg brought together familiar faces, fan favourites and plenty of special moments. Relive the evening through our photo gallery and post-game interviews.

On Saturday night in downtown Winnipeg, the Jets and Canadiens alumni took to the ice as part of Heritage Classic weekend. While the visitors ultimately came away with the victory, not too many folks were focused on the final score.

Back in 2016, when Winnipeg last hosted the Heritage Classic, the Jets alumni roster was made up primarily of players from the 1.0 era. This time around, it was the 2.0 version (even though, with the now-blended history, we’re not really supposed to make those distinctions anymore).

For fans, it was a chance to see some of their hockey heroes back on the ice, chant GST one last time or give Dustin Byfuglien a proper sendoff. It ended up being all of that a whole lot more.

Here are some of the sights from Saturday night’s Alumni game as the Jets and Canadiens turned back the clock for a memorable evening at Canada Life Centre.

Post-game media:

After the game, we caught up with former Jets goalie Michael Hutchinson, who reflected on the game, what the last few days have been like, getting to experience the event as a Winnipegger, seeing Jason Kasdorf get the third period and his thoughts on the new-look locker room.

While the final score won’t be what most fans remember from this game, the opportunity to see so many familiar faces back on the ice in Winnipeg certainly made for a memorable evening.
