The Jets defeated the Avalanche on Wednesday night to improve to 3-0-1 on the season, but the victory came at a cost. Winnipeg lost its top defenceman, Josh Morrissey, after he attempted a hit late in the first period. He returned for one shift in the second before being forced to sit out the remainder of the game.
File that into the less than ideal category as Josh Morrissey was a bit sore after trying to make this hit and smoking the boards instead. https://t.co/ZHRscDvmLO

We didn’t get an update on Morrissey’s status following Thursday’s optional practice when we spoke with assistant coach Davis Payne.
Head coach Scott Arniel provided some clarity following today’s morning skate as his club prepares to face the Ducks indicating the defenceman is simply day-to-day with the injury he sustained on Wednesday. That’s the best case scenario with the team not playing again until Tuesday night.
