Game 4: Winnipeg Jets vs Colorado Avalanche pre-game report

A look at the projected lineups and latest updates ahead of puck drop.

The Jets are back home tonight looking to keep their strong start going as they welcome the Colorado Avalanche to Winnipeg. After picking up back-to-back road wins in Detroit and Pittsburgh, Winnipeg gets its first look at a Western Conference opponent this season against an Avalanche team that will provide another early test.

From a Jets perspective the lineup question would appear to be if Tyrel Bauer comes back in for Jack St. Ivany. We will also have to see if head coach Scott Arniel returns to the lines the way he had them in the 3rd period of the Pens game or if he switches back to how they looked in the first 40 minutes of the game. It seems unlikely that Cole Koepke comes out since he gave the 4th line some much needed speed. We may also get an update on Elias Salomonsson.

Colorado comes into Winnipeg 2-0-0 after scoring 14 goals in its first two games, including an 8-4 win over Los Angeles and a 6-1 victory against St. Louis. The Avalanche have already had 13 different players record a point, with Nathan MacKinnon, Martin Necas and Artturi Lehkonen helping drive an offence that has been clicking early.

Skate news:

Looks like they’ll be back to the lines and St. Ivany remains in the lineup.

Odds:

Winnipeg enters tonight’s matchup as the favourite, looking to build on back-to-back wins as Colorado comes to town. Staying disciplined, continuing to generate on special teams and limiting the Avalanche’s speed and skill could help the Jets keep their strong start rolling.
