Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | October 6, 2026

A daily roundup of Jets, Moose coverage and all the pro hockey news that matters in Manitoba and beyond.

Note: The Jets made it two wins on consecutive days, rallying from a 1-0 deficit after 40 minutes to beat the Penguins. The third period turned into a wild one, with the two teams combining for four goals in just 4:19 as Winnipeg scored three of them to take control of the game. They ended the night as the first-place team in the Central. Time to plan the parade. They are off today.

Note II: The Moose were off on Monday after completing a season-opening sweep of the Wolves on consecutive days, outscoring Chicago 11-3 to begin the season with a 2-0-0 record. They will hit the ice at hockey for all centre at 10:30 AM CT for practice, so stay tuned for the Practice Report.

Global News: Jets survive chaotic third period to beat Penguins 3-2. There still seems to be a scrambly element to the hockey we are seeing which isn’t all that surprising given the league usually hasn’t even played a regular season game at this time of year.
