Note: It was a busy third day of Jets training camp with the team playing their first exhibition game of the pre-season last night in Edmonton taking on the Oilers. A very young team from Winnipeg got off to a very good start as Parker Ford fired home the first goal of the game before the home team started to roll, eventually winning 5-2.
Note II: Just prior to puck drop the team also made the first cuts of training camp sending three prospects back to their junior teams.
Note III: The Jets will have their non-game group on the ice at Hockey for All Centre at 10 a.m. CT, followed by the game group practice at 1 p.m. CT.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Jets rookies outclassed by Oilers stars in preseason opener. When McDavid and Draisaitl were added to the mix you knew they’d be in tough.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ Skinner the anti-Hellebuyck. There is no doubt he is a much better talker than 37 so that’s a benefit for us in the media landscape although the only consideration is how he does on the ice and in that regard you’d want him not to be an anti-Hellebuyck.
The Athletic Winnipeg: Winnipeg Jets’ training-camp battles matter more than Connor Hellebuyck’s absence. (Paywall). I am quite fascinated by all the different line combos and how there appears to finally be competition rather than guarantees for veterans spots.
