Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | June 3, 2026

A daily roundup of Jets, Moose coverage — all the pro hockey news that matters in Manitoba and beyond.

Note: The Jets are done. The Moose are done. We will still try to get you anything relevant to the pro hockey clubs of Manitoba during the next little bit. Of course the big focus is on the 2026 NHL Draft for which the Jets hold the 8th overall selection. We will be spending quite a bit of time learning about the players who could hear their name get called by Winnipeg at the end of June. You can also check out our chat with Craig Button as it pertains to the pick here.

Note II: It was a memorable start to Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final for Nikolaj Ehlers, who scored two goals in the first 12 minutes and eight seconds of the game. The former Jets winger’s first goal was the third-fastest scored to begin a Game 1 in NHL history. Alas, for the Dynamic Dane, it wasn’t enough as his club fell 5-4. If Carolina wants to even the series in Game 2, its top line needs to wake up..

Jets news:

Daily Faceoff: Jets’ Connor Hellebuyck named grand marshal for NASCAR race in Michigan. I’m surprised he’s giving up a Sunday of fishing but it is obviously an honour for him in his home state.

TSN: Canadiens’ Laine says he had green light to play, excited for ‘new opportunities’. While I don’t expect a reunion in Winnipeg for him, I could see a team like the Panthers giving him a shot.
