Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | May 22, 2026

A daily roundup of Jets, Moose coverage — all the pro hockey news that matters in Manitoba and beyond.

Note: The Jets are done. The Moose are done. We will still try to get you anything relevant to the pro hockey clubs of Manitoba during the next little bit. Of course the big focus is on the 2026 NHL Draft for which the Jets hold the 8th overall selection. We will be spending quite a bit of time learning about the players who could hear their name get called by Winnipeg at the end of June.

Note II: Yesterday was a good day for Jets players at the World Championship. In Canada’s 6-5 OT victory, Mark Scheifele finished with three goals and one assist including the extra time game-winner. His assist came on linemate’s Gabriel Vilardi‘s goal. For Switzerland, Nino Niederreiter had two goals to help keep his squad unbeaten.

Jets news:

Global News: Scheifele completes hat trick in overtime as Canada edges Norway 6-5 at worlds. Those pesky Norwegians stuck around and caused Canada some consternation but the two Jets on the team helped with them picking up a victory. 

2026 NHL Draft:

NHL.com: Draft chat with Mike Morreale. The name we continue to hear over and over and over again is Prince Albert’s Daxon Rudolph. Jamie chatting with Mike covering who he sees being an option at 8th and a whole lot more.
