Note: The Jets are done. The Moose are done. We will still try to get you anything relevant to the pro hockey clubs of Manitoba during the next little bit. Of course the big focus is on the 2026 NHL Draft for which the Jets hold the 8th overall selection. We will be spending quite a bit of time learning about the players who could hear their name get called by Winnipeg at the end of June.
Note II: It’s time of the year where guys start to sign overseas. The Swedish mafia are now down one as Samuel Fagemo heads back home to Frölunda on a three-year deal. He won a championship with them back in 2018-19. This one had been rumoured for a while and it was confirmed by the team yesterday.
Note III: Jets prospect Markus Loponen (2024 5th) is returning to North America for the 2026-27 campaign. He and HPK mutually agreed to terminate the final year of his two-year Liiga contract. He’ll play NCAA hockey for Lake Superior State.

The Athletic: Predicting all 63 picks of the first 2 rounds. (Paywall). Two of their writers give it their best shot to predict the order of the first two rounds. They’ve got Winnipeg going with left-shot defenceman Alberts Smits.
