Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | May 5, 2026

Note: The Moose will hold a practice today in Grand Rapids as they prepare for the third game in their series with the Griffins which is currently tied 1-1. Game 3 is tomorrow night.

Note II: Tonight is the NHL Draft Lottery at 6 PM CT and we will find out if the Jets are sticking with the seventh overall selection or if they’ll see some movement. Here is a chart indicating their odds for the various draft spots.

Note III: We learned on Monday that Jonathan Toews was a finalist for Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.

Note IV: Jets prospect Edison Engle‘s (2025 6th) first (and only) OHL season came to a conclusion last night as his Brantford Bulldogs lost in Game 7. His club started the playoffs 11-1 but lost three straight to get knocked out in the Conference Final. He finished with 1G 4A in 15 playoff games after putting up 3G 25A in 61 regular season games. Engle is heading to Ohio State for next season where he will join fellow prospect Sascha Boumedienne (2025 1st) who entered the Transfer Portal last month to make the move to join the Buckeyes.
