Here are some interesting statistics from the first couple weeks of NHL action.

Here are some interesting facts that you may or may not know:

  • The Colorado Avalanche are 28th in the NHL with 34 shots against per game
  • The Toronto Maple Leafs, on the other hand, actually sit 11th in the NHL with 28.6 shots against per game
  • The Buffalo Sabres have been the best team at five-on-five play
  • The Minnesota Wild, not surprisingly, has been the worst
  • The Carolina Hurricanes have been the most penalized team in the NHL this season with 22.4 PIMs per game
  • The least penalized team in the NHL this season has been the Nashville Predators
  • The Colorado Avalanche has the most points in the NHL, yet have only outshot their opponents on one occasion
  • The best shots for/shots against differntial belongs to the Chicago Blackhawks
  • Nicklas Grossman of the Dallas Stars leads the NHL with a +12 rating
  • Chris Pronger and Joe Corvo lead the NHL in average ice-time per game
  • Not surprisingly, Alex Ovechkin has taken the most shots in the NHL
  • Ryan Miller leads the NHL in save percentage for goaltenders that have played at least three games with a .940 mark
  • Miller’s 1.69 G.A.A. is also top in the NHL
  • San Jose has the best team face-off percentage
  • Colorado has the worst team face-off percentage
