Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets and Avs did battle yesterday in game four of their best of seven series with the penalty kill once again proving to be a difference maker for Colorado as they scored two more with the man advantage including the game-winning goal by Valeri Nichushkin as they won 5-1 which gave them a 3-1 stranglehold on the series. The team is off today but we will be hearing from head coach Rick Bowness this morning so check back for that.

Note II: The Moose season is over but they’ll kick off three days of end of season media availability which get underway this afternoon. Stay tuned to our YouTube for these interviews.

Winnipeg Sun: Hellebuyck gets a rest amid Colorado low, Georgiev remains rock solid. Made no sense playing him in the 3rd period of that game as it was clear this Jets club was not coming back in this hockey game. The body language during the timeout was less than stellar. So may as well keep 37 fresh for Tuesday when he will likely need to will this team to a victory.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ players shouldn’t bear brunt of blame amid puzzling coaching decisions. Scott isn’t wrong. Ultimately the coaching decisions get made by the coach and his staff and if they work like they did 52 times in the regular season then he gets lauded. But if they don’t work like they haven’t so far through these playoffs, well then the blame definitely gets put on his shoulders as much as the players who are supposed to be executing his plan.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets Snapshots. This one includes: 1) Another scary moment as Namestnikov takes puck to head. 2) Games 2, 3 and 4 carbon copies. 3) Time to give Perfetti a shot.

Instead Winnipeg didn’t nearly limit their visits to the sin bin.

Winnipeg Free Press: Good thing Jets brought doc on trip. (Paywall). You never want to have to avail yourself of their services but one thing this organization has been fortunate with is when needed they have stepped up to the challenge.
