Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest Jets and Moose & Ice news, video and audio.

Note: Team Canada with Pierre-Luc Dubois and Adam Lowry looked like they were toast on Thursday down 3-0 to Sweden in the World Championship quarterfinals but they fought back for an OT win which included Dubois scoring a ripper to make it a 3-2 game and then picked up the secondary assist on the extra time winner. Jets D man Nate Schmidt also advanced courtesy of a U.S. win over Switzerland.

Note II: Next Tuesday, May 31st at 3 PM we will be hosting a Moose end of season roundtable as I will be joined by Manitoba play-by-play voice Daniel Fink as well as Austin Siragussa of MooseTV to discuss the 2021-22 season for the AHL club of Winnipeg. We have our first two guests booked as we will be joined by Moose GM (Jets AGM) Craig Heisinger as well as Moose head coach Mark Morrison. Still some players to be announced. Be sure to subscribe and set a reminder for this show on our YouTube channel.

Note III: The Ice and Oil Kings play game 5 tonight in Edmonton as Winnipeg will need a win to extend the series and force it back to Manitoba for a game 6 on Sunday. Puck drop is at 8 PM.

The Athletic: What can non-playoff teams learn from this year’s Stanley Cup contenders? (Paywall). The only player they rated for this season in the “gold checkmark for exceeding expectations” is Nikolaj Ehlers as a top line winger (now if only Winnipeg would play him that way) and they rate Josh Morrissey as an elite defenceman although they don’t see that continuing next season. They do see a bounce back from Connor Hellebuyck.

Ice news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Ice refuse to melt away. (Paywall). Tonight will be a test of their mettle as they look to keep their season alive.
