Jets news:

Sportsnet: Jets goalie Eric Comrie out to prove he’s finally ready for backup role. I’ve been someone who feels that given the “certainty” of this role that Eric Comrie will make the most of it and show that he is capable of being in the NHL.

Winnipeg Sun: Comrie has support of teammates, hockey ops brass for backup role. Given the last few years of waivers wire claims and how well liked he is by the players he has grown up with in the organization it isn’t a big surprise that he has a lot of support to claim this new role.

Winnipeg Sun: Expansion draft left Stanley thrilled, DeMelo nervous. DeMelo is already an incredibly valuable member of the backend and Stanley sounds like he had another good summer of training.

Winnipeg Free Press: Chemistry between Stanley and DeMelo further strengthens blue line. (Paywall). Their pairing is somewhat ironic situation given the Expansion draft situation but the Jets will have to hope they can continue to work as well together as they did last season.

Winnipeg Free Press: The time is now for Comrie. (Paywall). While the jury is out on his suitability as an NHL backup (as I said above I am of the opinion that he will be able to handle the role) this will be the first time he doesn’t have a veteran standing in his path. But he knows that it will be incumbent on him to raise his game.

Jets video:

TSN: Dubois looks re-energized at Jets’ camp. Pierre-Luc Dubois’ transition from the Blue Jackets to the Jets wasn’t the smoothest and it showed in his on-ice performance. Sara Orlesky has more on why the centre looks re-energized this year and is ready for a fresh start.

The Hockey News: Jets season preview. Matt Larkin and Ryan Kennedy preview the Jets ahead of the 2021-22 season.
