Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest Jets and Moose news, video and audio.

Note: The Jets picked up their second straight road win on this five-game road trip as they defeated the Habs last night in Montreal by a final score of 5-0. The schedule for today isn’t out but it seems reasonable to assume they are traveling to Ottawa (although it is possible that they left after the game last night).  If they practice then you can expect a Practice Report or if it is a travel day then next media availability will be on Monday.

Note II: The Moose had one of their most unlikely wins on Saturday as they started the game with just five defenceman and one of their defenceman was in fact a winger who was playing in just his second ever AHL game and first in new role.  Despite this the game went to OT where it was ended when rookie and Jets 2020 1st rounder Cole Perfetti set up rookie Jeff Malott who scored the game-winning goal which was his AHL leading (for rookies) 10th goal of the season. The Moose have a morning availability.

Note III:  With trade deadline being tomorrow be sure to keep it locked here and to all of our social media channels if the Jets make a move. If they do we will likely do a Trade Deadline show on our YouTube channel so be sure you are following here.

Note IV: The two games which the Jets had scheduled against the Canucks, which were postponed by the NHL when the scale of the Vancouver covid situation became known, have now been rescheduled to almost mid May.

Winnipeg Sun: With Savard dealt, Cheveldayoff still has options ahead of NHL trade deadline. The Bolts paid a high price but for a team that wants to compete for the Cup the expectation is you have to pay to play.  With a big target for Winnipeg off the board Scott looks at other options ahead of tomorrow’s trade deadline.

Sportsnet: Jets keeping top prospects out of defenceman trade talks It is a tough balancing act of not wanting to mortgage the future but to also be cognizant of the fact that you have to reward your team that could be a contender with the right upgrade.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets winger Appleton has had to prove he can play the game at every level. (Paywall).  Watching him as a first year pro who worked his way from the fourth line with the Moose up to the top line I was impressed with his worth ethic and determination. It isn’t a huge surprise that the Wisconsin product has made himself a valuable member of the NHL club. This was in yesterday’s morning links but it was a really good read from Jason so I figured I’d include it this morning in case you missed it.

Jets video:

TSN: Button impressed by Jets’ depth in third-straight winHow impressive have the Jets been without Blake Wheeler?
