Note: The Jets practiced in Montreal on Friday as they got ready for tonight’s re-match with the Habs. Morning skate is at 10:30 AM CST so be sure to check out the pre-game report. Puck drop is at 6 PM CST.
Note II: The Moose ended their losing streak last night with a 3-1 win over the (Belleville) Senators in Ottawa. David Gustafsson was back in action although Kristian Veslainen didn’t play and was listed as day-to-day. On Friday the Jets also reassigned Eric Comrie from the taxi squad to the Moose which will allow him to get back into shape after spending 28 of the last 34 days in quarantine. Manitoba will conclude their eight-game road trip this afternoon in a re-match against the Senators.
Note III: Be sure to join us on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show today as we will be chatting all about the Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose this morning starting at 9:00 a.m. CT. Today’s guests include Mike McIntyre (Winnipeg Free Press), Michael Traikos (National Hockey Writer for Postmedia) and Mitch Peacock (Voice of the Winnipeg Ice). You’ll be able to watch via YouTube live here. If you cannot watch live you will still be able to get the show via Podcast.
Jets news:
The Athletic Winnipeg: Nine potential trade targets for the Jets ahead of the 2021 deadline. (Paywall). One of those trade targets was a player I thought the Jets could have gotten as part of their blockbuster deal with Columbus earlier this season.
Winnipeg Sun: Expected “hogwash?” Different views on analytics within Jets organization. Another good read from Scott who really deserves some sort of award for being able to splice his hockey and covid coverage.
Winnipeg Sun: Perreault hasn’t turned back the clock, he’s just doing what he’s always done. Number 85 is the type of player that all teams would want as his engine never seems to shut off.
Sportnset: Why a Mattias Ekholm trade would make sense for Jets. Lots of buzz right now about the Swedish Dman being available but as Ken writes it wouldn’t come without a cost.
Jets video:
Kenny & Renny Show: Episode 2. Plenty of Jets talk along with interviews with Jennifer Botterill and Chris Johnston.
