Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news and audio.

Note:  Despite the Jets having played and won 4-3 in OT over the Devils in New Jersey last night the team won’t have any time to rest as they play in the most famous arena in the world tonight when they take on the New York Rangers at MSG at 5 pm.  It wasn’t just the Jets who played last night as the Blueshirts lost 5-2 to the Habs in Montreal so I wouldn’t expect any lineup news (if any) until this afternoon.  Be sure to check out the pre-game report ahead of puck drop.

Note II:  The Moose played in Bakersfield last night with a patchwork group which was even more so because both Marko Dano and Kristian Reichel were hurt on Friday night and didn’t play. Jack Glover made his AHL debut and Mikhail Berdin made his first start in almost a month after spending most of November in the ECHL.  Defenceman Jack Glover made his AHL debut after being recalled from Jacksonville.  They lost 4-0 and were unable to generate much in the way of offence and fell to 1-2 on this six-game California roadtrip.

Note III:  To the surprise of nobody yesterday Jets sniper Patrik Laine was named NHL First Star of the Month in November.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:   Jets looking to tighten up defensively.   Ted previews tonight’s game and his big matchup is Marc Staal vs. Patrik Laine. His five keys are: 1) Get legs moving. 2) Keep it balanced. 3) Tighten up defensively. 4) Return to form. 5) Solve King Henrik.

Winnipeg Sun:  Scheifele’s determination lifts Jets to overtime win after another third-periodA wild game and the OT winner by 55 was very impressive.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets blow lead, again, but beat Devils 4-3 in OT.  (Paywall).  Jay gives his thoughts on last night’s game in Newark.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Appleton makes NHL debut count with first NHL point.  (Paywall).  As anyone who follows me knows (for those who don’t @icdave cough, cough) I’ve been a big fan of his game since he kicked started his pro career last season with the Moose.  Made a nice impression in his NHL debut.

NJ:  Devils rally to force OT before falling to JetsAlways good to read about the game from the perspective of a writer that covers the Jets opposition.

CBC: Jets continue mastery of Devils with OT win.  Another recap of the game.

TSN:  Scheifele capable of dominating any game situationMark Scheifele has the ability to be a dominant superstar and on Saturday against the Devils, he showed why. Craig Button breaks down his game in the Jets’ overtime win.
