Five members of the Winnipeg Jets file for salary arbitration

Five Jets file for arbitration.

Back in 2013 we saw five Jets (Bogosian, Little, Postma, Tangradi and Wheeler) file for arbitration and today history repeated itself with five Jets (Dano, Hellebuyck, Lowry, Tanev and Trouba) filing for arbitration.

You can read all about Salary Arbitration in the CBA located on the NHLPA site;  Article 12 on page 57.

Hearings will be held in Toronto from July 20 to Aug. 4 (see the Jets schedule below under Update II)

As Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff said at the end of season scrums (starts at 10:50) “…don’t write articles that the sky is falling if five or six guys filing for arbitration..”.  Oftentimes it won’t even make it as far as the hearing but this is a part of the process.

Three players who had arbitration rights but didn’t file for same were Tucker Poolman, JC Lipon and Nicolas Kerdiles.

Looking at 2013 as a barometer the Jets had the five file on July 10th and signed as follows:

Eric Tangradi (2 years) – July 16th
Paul Postma (2 years) – July 18th
Bryan Little (5 years) – July 22nd
Blake Wheeler (6 years) – July 26th
Zach Bogosian (7 years) – July 29th

Which illustrates that these players all won’t get done quickly but when they do we will have all the latest.

Update I:  Connor Hellebuyck signed a six-year deal.

Update II:  The NHLPA released the schedule for the Jets hearings:

Jacob Trouba – July 20
Adam Lowry – July 22
Brandon Tanev – July 25
Marko Dano – July 30

Of course just because they are scheduled doesn’t mean it will make it to the hearing.
