Moose rookie Mason Appleton came into this season with the stated goal of “just making the team”.  He began the year on the 4th line for Manitoba and worked his way up to be one of the top players in a Moose squad that clinched a playoff spot for the first time since relocation.

This year he has 21 goals and 42 assists for 63 points in 72 games which is good enough for top spot among his rookie class with three games left in the season.

In the home season finale he was awarded the co-Rookie of the team along with Sami Niku and he also took home the 3 Star award.  These go along with his attendance at the AHL All-Star game, being named to the AHL All-Rookie Team and 1st Team All-Star.

It has been quite a few weeks for the Moose as they saw head coach Pascal Vincent win outstanding AHL coach and Sami Niku was named outstanding defenceman in the AHL.
