Winnipeg Jets captain Blake Wheeler gets his 600th NHL point

Jets captain hit a milestone on Tuesday night.

Captain Blake Wheeler continues to be mentioned as someone who merits MVP consideration for the season he is having leading the Winnipeg Jets to just their second post-season in the seven seasons since they relocated from Atlanta.  Wheeler is tied for seventh overall in the NHL scoring race and sits in a tie for first with the Flyers Claude Giroux for most assists (66) in the league.

Last night on Joe Morrow’s first goal as a member of the Jets the captain picked up the 381st assist of his career.  When you combine that with the 219 goals he has scored in his ten seasons between the Bruins, Thrashers and Jets the Minnesota product now has 600 points in 773 games.

His 600 points make him the eighth highest scoring players from the State of Hockey and third among active NHLers (according to Quant Hockey).  If he has another season like this one in 2018-19 he will likely climb to top 5 among all Minnesota born hockey players.

While not one for personal accolades there is no diminishing the impact he has had on this Jets squad this season as they look to make some noise in the post-season.
