Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  The Jets dominated the Ducks for most of the game last night and but for the heroics of Anaheim goalie John Gibson the score could have been much more skewed.  Instead the game went to overtime where Kyle Connor ended it for the second straight game as the Jets hit 100 points with the victory.  They are scheduled to practice at 12 noon today at Bell MTS Place as they prepare to face division rival Predators here tomorrow night and the Jets Practice Report will bring you up to speed with the latest.  While Winnipeg is still a few points back of Nashville in the standings there seems to be a rivalry developing between these two squads which should make this an interesting contest.

Note II:  The Moose took Friday off following a big 4-1 win over the Heat on Thursday night as they kicked off an eight-game homestand.  Despite the rising temperatures outside they will look to minimize the Heat when they face off tonight at Bell MTS Place at 7 pm.

Note III:  Kick start your morning with three hours of Jets, Moose, NHL and even some Junior hockey talk on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show on TSN 1290 Winnipeg.  It all begins at 9 am.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Lack of points not panicking Perreault.  (Paywall).  Sounds like he was dealing with some health issues but number 85 is not on to make excuses.  And the fact is coach Maurice has spoken previously about guys sacrificing their individual success for the greater team good.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Laine says he won’t shy away from blocking shots.  (Paywall).  We saw his wearing the guard last night (including when it fell off during a shift).

Sportsnet:  Jets GM talks Stastny, Hellebuyck, ‘patient’ approach paying off.  Long read on how the Jets GM has guided the Jets ship to this point.

Jets video:

TSN:  Laine did everything but find the back of the net.  Patrik Laine returned to the lineup after suffering a bone bruise on his foot after blocking a shot Tuesday night, and as Jamie McLennan explains, the sniper wanted to be a difference-maker and did eveything Friday night but score.

Jets audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Stastny has plenty of options in free agency.  TSN’s Bob McKenzie joined the Big Show to talk about the impact of Patrik Laine’s injury, changes to come after the NHL GM Meetings and where Paul Stastny could end up next year including a potential return to either St. Louis or Winnipeg.
