The Jets have won all four of their home games to kick off this six-game homestand.  The team is riding high and will get set to face a Nashville team on Sunday night here in Winnipeg that must first play a game in St. Paul tonight against the Wild.

The question mark heading into today’s practice is the status of Tobias Enstrom who left the game last night after two periods with a lower-body injury.  Expect an update from coach Maurice following skate.

Practice notes:

Another familiar face is back according to Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun as Jacob Trouba is skating in a bright yellow non-contact jersey.  Only players missing according to Ken are Dustin Byfuglien and Tobias Enstrom.

Talk about unexpected.  A series of tweets from Scott Billeck of NHL.com:

“Blake Wheeler and Ben Chiarot just fought with each other here at practice. Appears that Wheeler took a slap shot at Chiarot. Looks like Scheifele cross-checked Chiarot and then Wheeler stepped in and began throwing punches at Chiarot. Blake Wheeler left the practice.”

“Looks like he took a punch to the face, perhaps a welt over his eye. Hard to tell. Threw his helmet onto the bench, clearly frustrated. ”

“Paul Maurice yelled “f*** off, don’t do it” to Wheeler and Chiarot after the gloves dropped.”

“The fight pretty much ended practice. Maurice left the ice not long after Wheeler did.”

Coach Maurice:  On distinguishing between the right amount of intensity and too much?  Why would he like more “dust ups”?  On the battles that happen.  Is it already resolved?  As a coach, does he stay out of it?  Update on Enstrom?  How far along is Trouba?  Any other takeaways from last night’s game?  Any message sending in the last game against the Predators?  On the expectations placed on Connor Hellebuyck.  Is there one thing that impressed him about Hellebuyck?  Is Hellebuyck approaching the game differently than he did last season?  Is he analyzing the game any differently?  Who starts tomorrow?

Health news:

Jets defenceman Tobias Enstrom left the game against the Ducks after he collided with another player in the neutral zone.  Bench boss Paul Maurice still doesn’t have an update on his veteran Dman “I’ll have more for you tomorrow.” When asked if he expects him to play tomorrow the coach added “As of right now no.  But I’ll have more for tomorrow is a better answer.”

The other injured defenceman for the Jets is Jacob Trouba and coach provided this update regarding his status  “Non-contact, still has to pass the test.  Full contact, player.”.
