Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  The Jets are looking to bounce back after a disappointing 5-2 loss to their division rival on Friday night.  It was a busy day of practice on Saturday (Jets Practice Report will catch you up) as they prepared to face the Rangers this afternoon at Bell MTS Place.  No morning skate with today’s 2 pm puck drop but you can check out the Jets pre-game report.  Stay tuned throughout the day for any and all Jets news and updates via  Twitter | Facebook | Instagram.

Note II:  The Moose conclude their nine-game road trip this afternoon in Cleveland.  The team has continued their strong play away from Manitoba going 6-1-0-1 to date and overall have a 20-5-1-1 in 27 road games this season.  Puck drop in Cleveland is at 2 pm CST.

Jets news:

NHL:   Jets keeping closer eye on prospects with AHL affiliate in-houseTim with a long read on the many benefits of having the Moose in town for the Jets organization.

Winnipeg Sun:  Five keys to the game Begins with Ken’s big match between Blake Wheeler and Brady Skjei.  His five keys include:  1) All about the rebound. 2) Connor heating up. 3) Shaking off the rust. 4) Long live the King. 5) Let the bidding commence.

Winnipeg Sun:   Jets ready for Rangers after Friday’s lacklustre effortWith how close the central division is there is no time to waste time lamenting a poor effort.  Watch video and make sure that your effort the next game is back to what folks have become accustomed to when watching Winnipeg play.

Winnipeg Sun:  Hellebuyck relishing heavy load Jets No. 1 goalie taking steps to stay freshKen asks the questions ‘How much is too much?’ to open this piece and I suspect if you ask any goalie they would want to play every game.  We discussed this topic with retired NHL goalie Marty Biron when it comes to Hellebuyck specifically on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show back in January (starts at 10 minute mark).  His thought was 60-65 games.  Of course back in the Carolina days Paul Maurice once ran Arturs Irbe for 75 games in 1999-00 and 77 games in 2000-01 so it is anyone’s guess.

The Athletic:  Are the Jets playing Connor Hellebuyck too much?  (Paywall).  Murat also deep dives into the topic of whether the Jets goalie is playing too much.
