32 Thoughts: Elliotte Friedman mentions Kirk Muller as a coach the Winnipeg Jets would have interest in

The insider chats about the potential fit of the NHL veteran turned coach in Winnipeg & Philly.

On today’s 32 Thoughts Podcast Elliotte Friedman mentioned current Flames associate coach Kirk Muller as a coach that Winnipeg (as well as Philadelphia) would have an interest in. The discussion between Friedman and Jeff Marek began with the Flyers potential interest in John Tortorella from which Friedman added this:

“…the guy I’d like to mention is Kirk Muller. I’ve heard that Philly is interested in Muller. I think also Winnipeg is interested in Kirk Muller. You know Kirk Muller has been a head coach once before. People would like to hear, you know, what he learned from that experience but I’ll say this about Kirk Muller too. You know people have looked at Calgary this year and particularly the improved play of players like Lindholm down the middle and they think that Muller has a lot to do with that and some of the improvement of some of their forwards particularly as two-way players, and I think that Kirk Muller is going to be in a few of these situations and I think Philly is gonna be one and I think Winnipeg is gonna be another.”

Muller is a 20+ year NHL vet who began his coaching career with the Habs as an assistant in 2006-07 before moving on and becoming head coach in Carolina for three seasons. He spent the next two season in St. Louis as an assistant coach before going back to Montreal as an associate for five seasons. The 2021-22 campaign is his first in Calgary.
