2020 NHL Draft to be held virtually Oct. 6-7

Jets fans can set their calendar for early October.

The 2020 NHL Draft, which was previously scheduled to have taken place in Montreal back in late- June, will now take place in early October once the Stanley Cup Playoffs have concluded.  Today the NHL announced that the 2020 NHL Draft will be held virtually October 6-7.  Start times and broadcast info are yet to be determined.

The Jets currently have four picks: 1st Round (10th overall), 2nd Round, 5th Round and 6th Round.

There is already plenty of speculation as to what the Jets might do with the 10th overall pick.  That post has some good links on the players who might be available for Winnipeg with that selection.

If you are wondering why the Jets don’t have their 3rd, 4th and 7th round picks they were traded away as follows:

3rd Round pick – Traded to the Ottawa Senators for Dylan DeMelo (February 13, 2020)

4th Round pick – was part of the deal that sent Joel Armia/Steve Mason to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Simon Bourque (June 30, 2018)

7th Round pick – went to the Minnesota Wild when the Jets acquired Matt Hendricks (February 25, 2019)

We won’t be live on air during the 2020 NHL Draft but we will have lots of draft coverage on The Illegal Curve Hockey Show on TSN 1290 Radio and on the website.  Stay tuned.
