Recap of the game.

Know what’s better than 10 straight wins? 11 of course. Winnipeg gets their 11th straight as they defeat Ottawa 4-1 to improve to 42-14-3 on the season as they move ahead of an idle Washington team by three points (although the Caps have a game in hand) for top spot in the entire NHL.

Notable:

Cole Perfetti opened the scoring in Ottawa with his 12th goal of the season which was a perfect redirection. He’s got 5G 7A for 12 points in his last 10 games for the Jets. That 2nd line for Winnipeg just keeps on chugging.

On the first goal it was Nikolaj Ehlers with the nice pass to set it up. He’s up to 33 assists in 50 games this season. His career high for assists is 39 in 2016-17 which took him 82 games.

Mason Appleton’s 8th of the season made it a 2-0 game just 1:16 later which really seemed to give the visitors a good hold on this game.

In the middle frame they added to their lead courtesy of Kyle Connor’s 31st off a sneaky good pass by Gabriel Vilardi which made it a 3-0 hockey game for the Jets.

Nikolaj Ehlers showed he skates faster with one skate than some guys with two! The broadcast was quite impressed by the Dynamic Dane.

While the top power play has gone a bit cold (including 0/4 tonight, which included a lengthy 5 on 3) they locked things down in the final frame holding a 9-3 shot edge. Mark Scheifele sealed it with his 33rd goal of the season into the empty net assisted by Kyle Connor.

Jets get win 42 in game 59.
In 2023-24 they got win 42 in game 66.
In 2017-18 they got win 42 in game 71.

They sit 1st overall in the entire NHL and have an 11 point lead over the Stars for top spot in the Western Conference. Share your thoughts here.
