While most of the focus is on the playing group today there is some attention being paid to the non-playing group as the Jets battle the injury bug a bit. The big question mark was the health of Josh Morrissey who didn’t play the 3rd period of the game against the Flames in Calgary on Tuesday but which Jets coach Paul Maurice indicated on Wednesday was simply a precautionary move and that he felt Morrissey would be fine.
As per Mike McIntrye of the Winnipeg Free Press both Josh Morrissey and Adam Lowry were skating today with the non-playing group this morning.
Audio:
Coach Maurice: On the role that David Gustafsson has in camp. Is Wheeler nusring anything? What are the benefits of Gustafsson playing in a regular season game? What is the next step for Nikolaj Ehlers? On the offensive need from Ehlers. Does he have different lineups drawn up for the opening day? Anything new on Niku? Is the plan to start with a 23 man roster? Status of Morrissey/Lowry? Will there be more cuts prior to Sunday? On the Oilers bringing their big guns. Would he try to get Heinola up against McDavid?
