It is a slightly different looking Jets group on the ice for day 13 of training camp after the team announced they had reduced their roster by 13 players.  While the roster is down to 32 some players are missing from skate according to Mitchell Clinton of Jets TV who indicated that Sami Niku, Bryan Little, Adam Lowry and Josh Morrissey are not skating.

Coach Maurice: On the roster moves the Jets made today.  On the vets who didn’t skate today.  Status of Josh Morrissey?  Thought process in selecting his rosters for last two pre-season games?  How are the key themes of camp going?  On rush defence being a key.  Was David Gustafsson banged up last night?  Is he getting his hopes up that the RFA logjam is close to breaking?  Does he simply view their RFAs as “guys who are injured”?  Is it tough for guys who are getting elevated roles who could tomorrow be “pushed down” the lineup?  On projecting when RFAs could play when/if they return.  Does he plan his week 1 lineup as if the three (33, 29 & 81) aren’t there?  Comparing last year’s exhibition to this one.  Is there more responsibility on the goalie tandem this year with the D in flux?  How much coaching goes into Jack Roslovic?  The challenge for young players with offensive games vs. young players with a two-way game.

Health Update:

Coach Paul Maurice on Josh Morrissey who didn’t play the 3rd period of the game last night in Calgary “He ended up feeling better after the game than I think he did before.  We’re planning on putting him on the ice unless something happens today and it tightens up.  So we are not worried about that one at all.”

Up next:

Jets will play their final home game of the pre-season when they take on Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers at Bell MTS Place on Thursday night.
