Winnipeg Jets to get new goal song for the 2016-17 season

New song every time Jets score in 2016-17.

Byfuglien scores vs Hurricanes

During the inaugural season for the Winnipeg Jets in 2011-12 the team used  “Hell Yeah” by Rev Theory as their goal song.  According to Kyle Balharry, Director of Event Production for True North when he spoke to us back on November 14th, 2011 they came to use that song for the following reasons:

“The way I found it was I got a disc sent to me, from a music producer, saying “new band, new, song, have a listen, this isn’t on the charts yet, this isn’t out.” I thought, awesome song, we’ve got to use that, nobody knows who this band is but who cares, it’s about the sound of the song, not necessarily who the band is.”

“We ran with it, it worked really well, the problem was we only played two home games that playoff season, we realistically only used it for two games. We said hey, you know what, we don’t like to recycle things, but we only used it for two games. It’s tough (to hear), after goals its super loud too, so you don’t even hear it.”

They then switched things up to the Isley Brothers song Shout for the 2015-16 season.  Perhaps that song was too much of a throwback (it came out in 1959) as the team has announced yesterday that they will be switching things up for the upcoming year.  The new goal song won’t be revealed until the first time the team scores in the regular season so we will have to wait a bit longer to find out what song they have chosen.

Update:  In the 1st period of the Jets home opener we learned what the new goal song would be….and it wasn’t new at all…it was an oldie but a goodie…..JUMP by Van Halen.  What do you think?  Love it or hate it?
