Winnipeg Jets suffer first loss to a Western Conference opponent as Nashville Predators win 4-1

After two straight wins the Jets lose for the first time against a Central Division opponent as the Predators take it 4-1 to defeat Winnipeg and drop them to 17-4-0 on the season.

Notable:

Interesting to see in the 1st when Gabriel Vilardi got tossed from the faceoff circle Kyle Connor took the faceoff instead of Mark Scheifele. Clearly 55 is bothered by something although he did end up taking some faceoffs in the game.

After the Jets gave up a goal to Roman Josi it looked like it would be a 2-0 game for Nashville but the Jets video coaches earned their salary as they correctly called for a challenge which the refs upheld. Score went back to 1-0 for the Preds.

Jets were down to five D after Dylan Samberg blocked a shot during the PK. The team would announce he would not return to the game.

Adam Lowry in front and it was all tied up in Nashville at exactly the midpoint of the 2nd period. Preds had taken a penalty so Jets would have been going to power play. But they were clearly happier to have it tied 1-1. That’s the captain’s fourth goal of the season.

Netminder Eric Comrie was sensational throughout the game but especially in the 2nd when he made 18 saves on 18 shots.

Two goals in 1:44 early in the 3rd swung the game in Nashville’s favour as they went up 3-1.

Defenceman Josh Morrissey took a solid head shot in the 3rd which went uncalled.

In the end Eric Comrie made 33 saves on 36 shots. He was the lone bright spot in the loss.

Health news:

Jets head coach Scott Arniel advised that Dylan Samberg suffered a broken foot blocking the Steven Stamkos shot on the penalty kill. He is returning back to Winnipeg to be further evaluated.
