post-game recap

Winnipeg Jets start well but Colorado Avalanche flip script in 2nd to take game 2 by final score of 5-2

Recap of game 2 of the 1st round series

The Jets started game 2 like a house on fire but they couldn’t build on their success and the Avs flip the script to take it 5-2 to even series 1-1.

Notable:

Winnipeg was able to harness the energy of the home crowd and got off to a really good start which included having a 9-2 shot edge and more importantly a 1-0 lead courtesy of David Gustafsson first ever playoff goal which rocketed him up to a tie for 20th on the Jets All-Time playoff goals.

However the Avs regained the momentum and shots went from 9-2 for the home team to 15-12 for the visitors after 20 minutes.

The Jets successfully killed off a Kyle Connor double minor after he caught Cale Makar in the face with a high stick in no small measure to the sacrifice of plyers like Dylan Samberg who blocked three shots during his time on this PK alone.

And Winnipeg was rewarded by one of the nicest goals of the playoffs from Mark Scheifele who one-handed redirected a beauty pass by Gabriel Vilardi.

The joy however ran out of joyville at this point with Colorado rolling to a 4-2 lead after 40.

One of the biggest problems throughout the night was the home team looking for the perfect pass rather than shooting for a rebound.
