Winnipeg Jets start post-Trade Deadline push with a 6-1 throttling of the New Jersey Devils

The Jets make a statement, running absolute roughshod over a decent New Jersey Devils team, culminating in a 6-1 win. They improve to 44-16-4 on the season as they start the final push for the playoffs with a big win coming in the second half of a back-to-back.

Trade Deadline news:

The Jets made two moves today acquiring Luke Schenn from the Penguins (more here) and Brandon Tanev from the Kraken (more here) and are now done. We’ve got all the moves in our Trade Tracker here.

Notable:

Fresh off re-joining the Jets winger Brandon Tanev, wearing number 73, made his Jets re-debut putting a Winnipeg jersey on for the first time since April 2, 2019 (for a regular season game) and April 20th after they lost to the Blues in the first round.

For the third time in his career Kyle Connor gets to the 80 point mark and he now sits alone in 4th overall in the NHL points race. He’s now just two assists shy of his career high (49) which he got in 2022-23 in 82 games. He remains on track for over 100 points which would make him the first player in Winnipeg 2.0 history to get there.

Cole Perfetti matched his career high for points with 38 but does so in seven fewer games.

Third straight season that Josh Morrissey gets to the 50 point mark.
