JC Lipon is about to enter his sixth season of pro hockey after being selected by the Jets back in 2013 in the 3rd round (91st overall). Today the team announced that the product of Regina, Saskatchewan has a new one-year, two-way deal worth $650,000.00 in the NHL.
He has been a very reliable player for the organization at the AHL level generally playing the majority of his team’s games each season, which for a guy who plays the game with an edge, is sometimes difficult. Despite the fact that this past year was the least number of games he has played as a professional (68) it was his best from a goal scoring perspective as he scored 17 goals for Manitoba. While he played less games in 2015-16 that was a result of his time spent with the Jets including nine games with the big club.
With the departure of longtime Moose captain Patrice Cormier for the KHL during this offseason JC Lipon is a player I could see wearing the C for the Manitoba Moose next season.
