post-game recap

Winnipeg Jets set franchise record with 53rd win as they defeat the Blues 3-1

Recap of the game.

Twice before in franchise history the Jets have gotten to 52 wins and now they’ve set a new franchise high picking up their 53rd win as they stopped the Blues 12 game win streak. Huge two points for Winnipeg who are now five points up on Dallas (with the Stars holding a game in hand).

Notable:

Nikolaj Ehlers (inj) and Colin Miller (illness) were both listed as game-time decisions but neither player would play in the game.

Mark Scheifele played in game 875 tnt which means he is now the All-Time leader in games played for the Winnipeg Jets 2.0 passing Blake Wheeler. In order for him to become All-Time Winnipeg leader he’ll need to pass Thomas Steen’s record of 950 (sometime next season).

Speaking of 55, he was recognized for getting his 800th point in the last game. Folks in Winnipeg give him a big round of applause. He’s only 2.0 player to reach that mark.

In the 2nd period the game went from refs letting them play to over officiated very quickly.

Just 7:05 into the 3rd the Jets retrieved a puck, Kyle Connor did his usual slick moves ending with Alex Iafallo burying his 14th goal of the season to make it 2-1 for Winnipeg.

Credit to the Jets who were playing relentless hockey in the 3rd period. With just 3:29 left the shots were 9-2 for Winnipeg. Seems appropriate that the kid born in St. Louis had the dagger as Adam Lowry put it into the empty net to end the Blues 12-game win streak. That also set a career high for the captain with his 16th goal of the season.

With an assist on the goal Mark Scheifele matched his career high for points with 84 which he originally set in the 2018-19 season.

Connor Hellebuyck matched his career high/franchise record for wins with number 44.

Multi Point Game:
