Winnipeg Jets recall Parker Ford from the Moose

Second ever recall and first this season for the second year pro.

The Jets are an on a three game road trip which started in Montreal, is now in Boston and then concludes in Washington next Saturday night.

They took Brad Lambert on the road to give them a 13th forward but last night before the Moose took on the Wolves in Chicago I took note that Parker Ford, their leading goal scorer, wasn’t playing. I didn’t notice anyone get hurt in the Jets game against the Habs but the eagle eyes of a subscriber said PuckPedia had Morgan Barron on IR. I checked the NHL media site and sure enough he was listed as on IR. Will have to wait till Jets head coach Scott Arniel speaks to find out what happened to him in Montreal.

The team has formally announced they’ve recalled second year pro Parker Ford. He’s a player that I felt merited a recall.

This is the second ever recall to the NHL for Ford who was called up alongside Brad Lambert and Nikita Chibrikov ahead of game 82 last season but only dressed for warm-up and didn’t get a chance to make his NHL debut.

Given he’s from nearby Rhode Island and played college hockey in Providence it would likely be quite the dream for him to make his NHL debut against a team in Boston.

With seven goals in his last nine games he has been the hottest goal scorer for a Moose team that hasn’t scored a lot of goals. He leads Manitoba with goals (11) and is one point behind for the team lead in points.

The team also formally announced that Morgan Barron had been place on IR. We will have to wait and hear from head coach Scott Arniel to find out what happened to him.

Update:

Ford will make his NHL debut as per head coach Scott Arniel. Also Barron is out week to week after he suffered an injury on the hit against Kirby Dach which was a surprise since he was the one delivering the check.
