The Jets returned home from their three-game road trip having secured four of six points with a win and two OT losses. The problem is they already are in such a deficit that they cannot afford to lose any points, especially when leading in the games. With the trade deadline coming up on Friday it will be interesting to see how this impacts the week. Stay tuned for that.
While on the road we learned that Nino Niederreiter had had surgery although we were already aware he would be out week-to-week while Vlad Namestnikov went on the shelf, also week-to-week, after he collided with captain Adam Lowry in the game on Friday in Anaheim.
Optional Skate news:
Not unexpectedly it was a small group of players skating at today’s optional. As per Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press, the guys skating were:
G: Comrie.
D: Salomonsson. Heinola. Fleury. Miller (non-contact).
F: Duehr. Koepke. Nyquist.
He also advised that Josh Morrissey skated ahead of this group.

Health update:
Jets head coach Scott Arniel advises that Josh Morrissey is trending towards a return this weekend. He did provide a timeline update on Nino Niederreiter after there was apparently a report that he was done for the season. He said that wasn’t his understanding but did provide a timeline of 4-6 weeks.
