It has been a week since the last time the Jets hit the ice for what was a highly optional practice before they left on the mentors road trip which seems like a lifetime ago. The last full practice by the team was back on December 29th so it’s been 12 days since the entire band was back together. Although clearly it hasn’t caused the team to miss a beat as they continue to pick up win, after win, after win during this remarkable run. That includes last night’s 5-0 win over the Blue Jackets.
Even today’s skate was downgraded from a full practice to an optional and it’s hard to argue with success given this team is on a 13 game points streak (11-0-2) and currently sit 1st in the entire NHL.
They also activated Rasmus Kupari from IR and then sent him to the Moose on a conditioning stint so he’ll get in some games as he hasn’t played since mid November and you can expect a similar plan for Ville Heinola once he is medically cleared. He hasn’t played a game since the pre-season.
Skate news:
David Gustafsson began the optional feeding Kyle Connor one-timers as the optional practice gets underway.
Neal Pionk, Nikolaj Ehlers, Dominic Toninato, Logan Stanley, Ville Heinola, Laurent Brossoit on the ice as well.
So is practice goalie Jason Kasdorf.
