Following last night’s 8-1 thumping by Winnipeg on the Hurricanes in Carolina the Jets were into Washington, D.C. as they get ready to face the defending Stanley Cup champions.  The Capitals have won six straight games, are 8-2-0 in their last ten and sit in first place in the Metropolitan division.

Practice News:

It was an optional practice today according to Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press with a handful of Jets working out off the ice.

Patrik Laine

Coach Maurice:  What is the focus today?  Thoughts on the return of Adam Lowry?  Does he need to talk to Lowry when he came off suspension?  Alex Ovechkin’s game.  Happy not to be in the same division as Ovechkin?  On the consistency of Ovechkin.  Can Laine learn something from the way Ovechkin has developed over his career?  On Laine being a set up man for Wheeler.  Is there more ice open for Wheeler with teams expecting Laine/Scheifele to be the shooters?  Did Laine need to go on the line with Wheeler/Scheifele to get his game going or was it going before he was added to top line?  What impresses him about how Laine handled the goal drought?
