The Jets will finish the season with the second most points in the Western Conference with last night’s 2-1 win over the Flames but will have to settle for second in the Central as the Preds also won yesterday securing first spot and the Presidents’ Trophy.  The Jets will have a date with the Wild in their 1st Round series.

Practice notes:

According to Brian Munz of TSN 1290 Winnipeg the only players missing from today’s skate is Blake Wheeler and Adam Lowry.

From Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press: “defenceman Jacob Trouba just took a spill during practice and is really slow to get up, appears to be favouring his left leg. Has gone to the bench and is getting looked at by trainers.” “Jacob Trouba just came back on the ice, took a slow solo twirl to test things out, and has now left the ice and gone to the dressing room. That’s not a good sign.”

Coach Maurice:  Status of Jacob Trouba.   Any other lineup news?  Tanev back in?  Whether not winning the Presidents’ Trophy was disappointing?  Morrissey fine?  Status of Eric Comrie?  How important for Steve Mason was it to get him into a game to get his confidence back?  Does a backup goalie having playoff experience help?  How much stock does he put into a team surging as they head into the playoffs.  On helping prepare players who have never played or won a playoff game at this level.  On Stastny’s veteran influence to the team.  How is Lowry?  On when they brought up Kyle Connor from the Moose, how long did he anticipate it would be for?  How much of an accomplishment is it for Connor to lead the league in rookie scoring?  On Ben Chiarot’s development.  Update on Sami Niku?

Health Update:

Coach Maurice was asked for a Jacob Trouba update “Ya he’s good.  I’m not sure if he’s in tomorrow but he’s good.  That’s a standard part of his kind of rehab coming back you tweak it, but they’re pleased with it after.  I’m still probably looking to get Tucker Poolman in one more game, so that may have been the door that opened, but he’ll be ready to roll (for game 1).”  The Jets bench boss did say it was connected to Trouba’s previous injury.

Assigned:

The Jets have sent goalie Eric Comrie and defenceman Sami Niku back to the Moose.  Manitoba plays two games this weekend to close out the home portion of their schedule.
