Winnipeg Jets Playoff Practice Report

Jets hit the ice in Denver as they prepare for game 4.

The Jets were out to a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes in game 3 and things were looking up for the visitors as they had eight high-danger chances in the middle frame to only allowing one for the Avs. But a disastrous final frame saw them take a lot of penalties, which is uncharacteristic for a team that finished the regular season as the 8th least penalized team in the entire NHL, and that gave Colorado the opportunity they needed to score five straight to pick up the 6-2 win and take a 2-1 series lead.

There was a lot of concern for Winnipeg defenceman Brenden Dillon whose hand was cut at the end of the game. In his post-game comments head coach Rick Bowness said “Can’t give you an update. I don’t have an update. Still being examined.”

Pre-skate news:

This morning the Jets announced they had recalled Axel Jonsson-Fjallby from the Moose. The season for Manitoba concluded on Thursday as they were eliminated by Texas. While there will be more players officially recalled to be black aces it would appear this is being done as lineup move. In 41 games for the Moose he had 12 goals and 18 assists for 30 points.

Skate news:

As per Murat Ates of The Athletic Winnipeg all Jets players are on the ice including AJF and the only person missing is Brenden Dillon.

Health update:

After practice head coach Rick Bowness provided an update on Brenden Dillon saying “Basically it’s day-to-day. We know the gash was there but our doctors did a fantastic job of stitching him up and there’s no damage and that’s the most important thing. So we’ll keep him as day-to-day.”
