Note: The Jets won their first pre-season game last night as they played host to the Avalanche which saw the home team get out to a 3-0 lead courtesy of goals by Gabriel Vilardi, Cole Perfetti and Dylan DeMelo before it ultimately ended with them defeating Colorado 3-1. New Jets goalie Stuart Skinner made 31 saves on 32 shots in his Jets debut.
Note II: While that game group will get night off (although they still have a skate scheduled for later today) the non-game group from Monday becomes a game group today as Winnipeg plays host to Edmonton in their third of four exhibition games. Puck drop is at 7 PM CT. The game will be streamed on the Jets website. Reminder that our IC Post-Game Shows do not start until the regular season but it’s never too early to smash that subscribe button.
Note III: The Jets unveiled their new multi-million-dollar dressing-room expansion at Canada Life Centre, with the redesigned space featuring a ceiling logo and additional upgrades still to come.
Note IV: The Moose opened training camp with a roster made up of AHL-contracted players, Bloomington Bison, University of Manitoba Bisons and PTOs, with a larger influx expected once the Jets make their next round of cuts. They hit the ice at 10:30 AM at hockey for all centre for Day 2 of camp.
Cautionary Note: I try to sift through the noise and share articles that are informative and help keep you up to date on the latest Jets news. But there is an awful lot of nonsense out there, so it is important to consider the sourcing behind what you read. For example, Steve Simmons wrote in his Simmons Says column that “the nonsense that Connor Hellebuyck won’t play in Canada is senseless. If he were dealt to Edmonton or Montreal, he would report in a minute.” He does not indicate this came from Hellebuyck’s camp or from a source with knowledge of the situation, so it reads as his opinion. Yet that one line has already spawned a mountain of articles treating it as fact. Given TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger has reported the opposite, I would definitely take Simmons’ comment as opinion.
