Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | October 30, 2026

A daily roundup of Jets, Moose coverage and all the pro hockey news that matters in Manitoba and beyond.

Note: The Jets made things interesting in Tampa Bay last night, but ultimately their losing streak reached seven games (0-5-2) following a 6-4 defeat to the Lightning. A disastrous middle frame saw Winnipeg go from a 1-1 tie after 20 minutes to trailing 5-1 after 40. To their credit, they battled back with three goals in the final period to pull within one, but the comeback fell short. No rest for them however, as they are across the state in Sunrise to take on the Panthers this evening. Puck drop is at 6 PM CT.

Note II: While the losing skid the AHL club of Manitoba is far less significant at two games (not even sure that qualifies as a streak) they will be looking to arrest this slide this evening in Rockford when they conclude their six-game road trip against the IceHogs. Big question mark will be whether Walker Duehr is ready to return to the lineup for the first time this season. Puck drop is at 7 PM CT.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets losing skid stretches to seven. (Paywall). Even though the stretch of games was more last season, this one seems to be more impactful. Perhaps it’s because everyone was supposed to learn from what happened during the 2025-26 season so it would not repeat itself. A tough way for Neal Pionk to remember his 600th NHL game as he gets two goals but the team slide hits seven. Mike gives you his thoughts from Tampa Bay.

Winnipeg Free Press: Three’s company for new netminder Daws. (Paywall). Mike had a chance to catch up with the newest goalie in the system before he unexpectedly made his Jets debut.

Global News: Lightning strike Winnipeg Jets for seventh straight loss. Not gonna lie. I’m a little jealous I didn’t think of that headline. Russ and Kevin combine for this game recap.

TSN: What went wrong against the Lightning as Jets’ losing skid reaches seven games? TSN’s Dan Robertson and Landon Ferraro discuss what went wrong for the Winnipeg Jets in their 6-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning to extend their winless streak to seven games in a row.
