Note: The Jets hosted the Hurricanes yesterday afternoon, but the outcome of the game became almost secondary after Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman dropped a bombshell that Connor Hellebuyck’s team-imposed suspension would come to an end on Friday, October 23rd. On the ice, Winnipeg held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 against the defending Stanley Cup champions, but former Jet Nikolaj Ehlers ultimately scored the game-winning goal to give his Carolina club a 3-2 victory. The Jets have the day off today.
Note II: The Moose practiced on Saturday as they prepared for this afternoon’s rematch with the Stars. Manitoba is coming off an impressive 7-4 victory over Texas on Friday night, which improved the AHL club to 4-1-0 on the season. They’ll look to keep that momentum rolling when the two teams meet again this afternoon. Puck drop is at 2 PM CT. If you’d like to go to the game send me a message on social media or an email (dave @ illegalcurve .com).
Note III: Last night saw more Jets prospects in action, although only a handful found their way onto the scoresheet, all of them in the CHL. Starting in the OHL, Jacob Cloutier (2025 7th) picked up an assist, while over in the WHL, a pair of prospects made their mark. Defenceman Noa Ta’amu (2026 7th) scored his second goal of the season for the Oil Kings, while Owen Martin (2025 3rd) continued his hot start with a two-goal performance for the Chiefs.
