Trade Deadline: The NHL Trade Deadline is finally here concluding at 2 PM CST. The Jets got the party started by scratching Luke Schenn and Logan Stanley ahead of last night’s game during which rumours began to circulate that there was a deal in place with the Sabres for the duo as a package. We would get the details while we were live on the post-game show. With that done, we will still be covering all day long if there are any other moves made by Winnipeg. If there is anything major we could do a pop up Illegal Curve broadcast so be sure you’re subscribed to our channel and if it’s mostly minor moves, we’ll have it all covered on illegalcurve.com. We expect to hear from GM Kevin Cheveldayoff once the deadline ends which will be posted both on here and on our YouTube channel.
Note: Yesterday, we did learn that defenceman Colin Miller has had a setback. They are going to check back with him in about a week.
Note II: Last night there was a game to play as the Jets took on the Lightning in the second of eight games on this homestand. The game started off slowly as the two teams had combined for 16 shots (8 each) through 25 minutes of the hockey game. Eventually the home team got rolling which included Gustav Nyquist scoring his first of the season (in 40 games) as they rolled over Tampa Bay by a final score of 4-1 (close to my bold prediction from Tuesday which was a 5-1 Winnipeg win). The team will hold an optional practice today at 12 noon. Stay tuned for the Practice Report.
Note III: The Moose had another day of practice on Thursday as they got set for their upcoming two-game series with the Marlies which gets underway here in Winnipeg starting tonight. Of course the big question for the AHL club of Manitoba is who exactly will be in their lineup when the game gets underway? Puck drop is at 7 PM CST.
Note IV: Jets prospect Jacob Cloutier (2025 7th) helped Saginaw comeback late as he scored his 17th of the season.
