Trade Deadline: The NHL Trade Deadline is just one day away ending on March 6th at 2 PM CST. The expectation is the Jets will be sellers on Friday as they likely choose to dump their UFAs given their chances of making the playoffs are listed at a paltry 6.6%. For what it’s worth their odds to select 1st overall sit at 7.5%. If there is anything major we could do a pop up Illegal Curve broadcast so be sure you’re subscribed to our channel and if it’s mostly minor moves, we’ll have it all covered on illegalcurve.com.
Note: The Jets held an optional practice on Wednesday. Morning skate for Winnipeg gets underway at 10:30 AM CST so stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 7 PM CST.
Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Tampa Bay, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 9:40 PM CST.
Note III: The Moose skated yesterday in their first practice of the week and there was some good news as both Colby Barlow and Davis Gustafsson skated after missing the games on the recent road trip. They have another round of practice today as they get set for tomorrow’s game against the Marlies here in Winnipeg.
Note IV: Jets prospect and Manitoban Owen Martin saw his six-game points streak (7G 9A) snapped in a Spokane loss (which also ended the Chiefs six-game winning streak). He did get some chances in the game to extend it. He has really rebounded from a slow start to his season.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Sleepless in Sweden: Jets’ Salomonsson gives mom, dad, a treat. And in his 15th NHL game he scored his first goal so it only took 15 very early mornings for his parents to see their son score.
Winnipeg Sun: ‘We can hang with anybody’: last game before deadline will test Jets’ will. They’ll have to show that they can on the ice when they take on the lethal Bolts this evening.
Winnipeg Free Press: Salomonsson’s parents cheering on Jets defenceman from Sweden. (Paywall). I asked him this summer and he said his dad usually wakes us and watches most of his games with the Moose. Sounds like he has very dedicated parents.

Global News: Jets avoid a stumbling start to critical homestand. While the chances of playoffs is between nil and nonexistent the fact is there is still technically a chance which would have been crushed had they lost in regulation.
The Athletic Winnipeg: What I’m hearing about the Jets at the deadline: Stanley negotiations, Toews and more. (Paywall). Murat with his insight on what’s going on around the Jets.
