Note: The Jets held an optional practice on Monday as they looked to build on their big win on Saturday over the Avalanche. We did learn that Morgan Barron remained back at hockey for all centre as he recovers from being placed in concussion protocol after their game last Thursday. While it’s not game related we also learned yesterday that Kyle Connor or maybe I should say Kyle “Frickin” Connor has some unexpected acting chops.
Note II: Winnipeg woke up today just three back of Nashville for the final wild card spot (with a game in hand) although they did get passed by San Jose who won last night (and who also have a game in hand on the NHL club of Manitoba). Morning skate for the Jets gets underway at 11:30 AM CT so stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 7:30 PM CT.
Note III: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Chicago, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 10:10 PM CST.
Note IV: The Moose also hit the ice for practice on Monday as they are back in Toronto where they will wrap up their fourth and final game of this road trip. The win in their last game which helped them end their slide re-established a three point lead on the Admirals for 4th in the Central. However, Milwaukee won their last game on Sunday which put them just one back of Manitoba (although the Moose have a game in hand). A win tonight would be massive to help them gain some buffer and it would tie them with the Stars for 3rd. Puck drop at 6 PM CT.
Note V: If you looked at the Game 3 boxscore between Flint and Owen Sound, you’d be shocked to see Jets prospect Kevin He (2024 4th) held off the scoresheet in such a big scoring game. But he only played nine minutes as he was given a game misconduct for boarding. Over in the WHL, Owen Martin (2025 3rd) and his Spokane club are down 0-3 with an OT loss on Monday which means he could be getting his first taste of pro hockey soon enough.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Heroes for a day, Winnipeg Jets get cheers from Chicago crowd. The gold medalists on the team were celebrated by the crowd.
Winnipeg Free Press: Hellebuyck remains confident despite regular-season turbulence. (Paywall). I want to make a joke that the Jets top netminder is confident regardless if he’s just given up six goals or shutout the best team in the NHL. That quip aside, Kenny wrote about the confidence number 37 is feeling for the final stretch of the regular season.

Winnipeg Free Press: Toews throws opening pitch at Wrigley. (Paywall). You could hear in the roar of the crowd how beloved a figure the Winnipegger remains in the Windy City.
Global News: Winnipeg Jets have found a short-term answer for second line woes. Not good enough to content for a Cup. They need to have a 2nd line centre in place next season.
Who knew the Michigan product had acting skills.
