Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Jan 14, 2026

A daily roundup of Winnipeg Jets, Manitoba Moose coverage — all the pro hockey news that matters in Manitoba and beyond.

Note: The Jets wrapped up a long stretch at home with their third straight victory as they defeated the Islanders by a final score of 5-4 after an incredibly wild 2nd period. It was also a milestone for the team’s first-ever draft pick as Mark Scheifele got his 500th NHL assist (technically twice) in the game. Today, the team will practice at 12 noon before heading to Minnesota to face the Wild. Stay tuned for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose started off on the right skate in Rockford opening the scoring but that was basically the end of the good times for the AHL club of Manitoba. A misconduct to Ville Heinola (his frustration with the non-call are warranted) seemed to derail the team which allowed the IceHogs to roll to a 6-2 victory.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: ‘Confidence’ grows, Jets edge Isles 5-4 for 3rd straight win. It would be quite something if they could string another three to five of these.
