Note: The majority of Jets are off on their Olympic break. The ones over in Italy won’t start playing until February 12th.
Note II: The Moose wrapped up their two-game set in Texas last night and heading into the final frame they looked like they were gonna escape Texas with a ‘W’ but hockey is a game which generally requires you to play a full 60. A few lapses in the 3rd powered a Stars comeback and they held on to defeat the Moose by a final score of 4-3. The AHL club of Manitoba (except for Thomas Milic) are now on AHL All-Star break except for the aforementioned goalie who is heading to Rockford.
Note III: In the OHL a pair of Winnipeg prospects got on the board. Kevin He (2024 4th) opened scoring early in this one for Flint courtesy of his 27th goal of season although as nice as the shot was the celebration was quite something. Meanwhile Kieron Walton (2024 6th) fired eight shots on net. He’s taken 275 shots this season which leads the OHL by a mile. Only two other players have cracked 200 and they’ve both played more games. He had an assist on the opening goal for his new club. In the NCAA, Garrett Brown (2022 4th) is a defence-first defenceman who doesn’t often light the lamp. But he did last night, firing home his second of the season, which proved to be the game-winner for Denver.
