Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Apr 6, 2026

A daily roundup of Jets, Moose coverage — all the pro hockey news that matters in Manitoba and beyond.

Note: The Jets were off on Sunday as they returned to Winnipeg having gone 3-1-0 during their recent road trip which allowed them to keep pace in the chase for the final wild card spot. They woke up this morning three points back and welcoming a Kraken team to town who are for all intents and purposes out having lost three straight and sitting six back of it. Morning skate for Winnipeg gets underway at 9:30 AM CT so stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 6:30 PM CT.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Seattle, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 9:10 PM CT.

Note III: The Moose were also off on Sunday after being walloped by the best team in the Western Conference by a combined two game score of 13-5. They will hit the ice for a reset this morning with a 10:30 AM CT practice as they prepare for a massive two-game set against the Admirals who sit just three points back of them in the playoff hunt. That series gets underway tomorrow.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: ‘Win all six games’: Jets host the Seattle Kraken on Monday. Interestingly the bench boss of Winnipeg doesn’t like to focus on the big picture but rather keep his focus rather narrowly focused on their next opponent but he isn’t wrong. They will likely need to run the table or at least go 5-0-1 in their final six games to have a shot.

Winnipeg Sun: ‘He’d rather have 45’: slow night for Hellebuyck in Jets win. While I can understand the sentiment of wanting to be part of the action, there is the element of your team possessing the puck that is probably more important for success.

Winnipeg Free Press: ‘Every game is a big one’: Jets keep playoff hopes alive, but margin for error is gone. (Paywall). Not sure how many times I can say this one is a “must-win” but basically while they remain mathematically able to make it, I’ll be writing that.

Illegal Curve Hockey Show: Saturday PodcastWe spent two hours on the show this past weekend discussing all things relevant to the NHL club of Winnipeg, took a look at what’s doing with the AHL club of Manitoba and touched on the prospects playing playoff hockey.
