Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Apr 1, 2026

Note: The Jets were in no position to have a letdown in Chicago last night, and once the second period began they seemingly hit the accelerator, scoring three times to take a 3-1 lead. But they allowed a goal on just two shots in the frame, giving the Hawks life they carried into the third to force overtime. In extra time, Winnipeg’s lethal duo delivered, as Mark Scheifele set up Kyle Connor for the game-winner, securing a 4-3 OT win and pulling the Jets to within a single point of the Preds for the second and final wild card spot. Today is a travel day as the team heads to Dallas.

Note II: The Moose were looking to end their four-game road trip with a victory in Toronto and that’s just what they did as they won biggly by a final score of 5-1 over the Marlies. They got contributions from across the board including a big performance by Jets goalie prospect Thomas Milic. It wasn’t all good news for the AHL club of Manitoba on Tuesday. If they were watching the out-of-town scoreboard they would have seen that the Stars won, which meant that the Moose were back to 3 points back of 3rd place (with a game in hand).

Note III: The Jets OHL prospects didn’t fare too well last night. Kieron Walton (2024 6th) had no points as Peterborough lost to North Bay (tied 2-2), Jacob Cloutier (2025 7th) had no points as Saginaw lost to Kitchener (down 0-3) while Edison Engle (2025 6th) also had no points but his Brantford team won vs Sudbury (up 3-0).
