Jets news:
CBC: 5 Things to watch. Jeff looks at the need for the Jets to protect the house, Capital punishment, Ovi and company, coach Noel on the hot seat and where does the blame lie?
Winnipeg Free Press: Called to the office. Asking for accountability from his players is what coach Noel feels is necessary at this point to get the team playing like a team. Only nine games into the season, is it too soon to be hitting the panic button?
Winnipeg Free Press: Coach practices patience. Some will say the culture in the room needs to change while others point to coach Noel’s system as the problem. There are thousands of theories being expressed on a daily basis as to what needs to be done to change the Jets fortunes around.
Winnipeg Free Press: Hardy Pardy giving it his all. It is difficult to shed the journeyman title once it has been applied.
Winnipeg Sun: Setoguchi regains prominent role in Winnipeg Jets offence. An unexpected early seat in the press box was clearly a message by coach Noel that he wants to see some additional effort from Setoguchi’s game.
Winnipeg Sun: Coach Claude Noel starting to feel the heat. It cannot always be sunshine and lollipops. This fanbase, the organization wants success. While they all preach an understanding of building with a long term vision, the reality is everyone wants to see wins and wants to see those wins now, not in the future.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets have not forgotten what Caps did to them last season. Who can forget those back to back games when the Jets had a fairly sizable lead in the Southeast. The Jets could have stepped on the Caps throat but instead they allowed them to eliminate a huge gap and breathed life back into a Washington club that had been struggling to that point in the season.
Illegal Curve: Coach Noel scrum. Meeting day? Find anything out? (Quote 1). Injury update (Slater is more day to day more like a week, Bogosian is maintenance, Stuart is hopeful). Has he spoken to Tangradi about what he needs to do and would he share? (Not surprisingly he said no). Drilling puck possession in at practice. Challenge to find right combo of 3? (Quote 2). Needing top players to be top players (Quote 3). Concerned about players who are ‘down’(Quote 4). Is someone in the room able to hold other players accountable? (Quote 5). Jets opposition (Washington Capitals) news:
Washington Post: Happy for change of scenery on verge of long road trip. You could easily replace the team Washington Capitals with Winnipeg Jets and the article would apply. Both teams were hoping home cooking would be of benefit and both haven’t seen those results manifest.
